GET LOUD! IN 2016 EXPECTS HUGE GIFT FOR CHILDREN
Curtin University in partnership with Telethon Speech and Hearing is hosting Get Loud Day on campus with the aim of encouraging students, staffs and visitors to participate in a charity event to support speech and hearing impaired children.
The campaign will include various activities to help raise funds to support Telethon Speech and Hearing for the intensive therapy services many families and students requires on 12 October at Atkinson Forum.
Jame Smith, Event Manager of Telethon Speech and Hearing, said that the Get Loud event is designed to make a huge difference to hearing, speech and language impaired children in Western Australia.
“Get Loud! In 2016 is expected to be ‘a big step’ for us to help provide for the future of the less fortunate children in Western Australia,” he said. “Together we can inspire the children to dream big through our effort and the donated money from these activities on the day of the event” he added.
Vice Chancellor, Deborah Terry believes the event will not only provide leisure and entertainment for the day but will also allow students to develop a deeper understanding and sympathy for children with hearing and language impairment.
“As a host of the event, I believe that all students, staffs and visitors will have fun and the most meaningful day,” she said. “ It is also the way for us to pay attention to children and their families who need our help year after year for their complex and intensive therapy” she added.
The event will consist of several activities including free hearing tests, photobooth, live musical entertainment, loud t-shirt making with Library Makerspace and Park’d and many others from 11.30 am – 1.30 pm at Atkinson Forum.
All students, staffs and visitors are encouraged to upload photos on their social media on the event day using hashtag #getloud16 #curtinuniversity #curtinlife.
